Time To Get Ready For The Inversion

The Cache Valley Inversion is on the way and, like last year, it could be a really bad one. We can all do our part to help reduce the effects of the inversion, but there’s no getting around it. The air is going to be bad in Cache Valley this winter. That means it’s a good time to prepare by cleaning out your home’s air ducts and vents.

1. Basic Cleaning

The most basic cleaning for air ducts is our primary service. We don’t use harsh brushes like some companies, which can potentially damage your vents, especially if you’re using flex ducts. Instead, we use a revolutionary vacuum system that draws dust and debris out. This removes any build up of throat and lung irritating pollutants that spread from the vents and improves your HVAC’s effectiveness.

But that’s not all we offer you.

2. Air Duct Sanitization

In addition to vacuuming out your air ducts, we use the SaniJet system to sanitize the inside of your vents. This sprays an even coating of cleaner across the entire vent system. We use a disinfectant that targets gram-negative bacteria responsible for many bad smells in houses and is safe to use. No need to evacuate the whole family while it’s being sprayed and you don’t have to worry about your HVAC pumping it back into the house afterward.

Bad air isn’t all you have to worry about.  According to FEMA, house fires are far more common in winter than summer. One of the causes of house fire is poorly cleaned dryer vents. Every time you run a load of laundry, lint builds up in your dryer filter and needs to be cleaned out. Over time, lint from your dryer can build up in the vents pumping hot air out of your home. If it does, it becomes a fire hazard. While this isn’t really related to the inversion, it’s still a concern you should have for your home safety. Now would be a good time to check your dryer vent to make sure it’s cleaned of lint. We can both check it and clean it out for you along with our other services.

4. Changing Air Filters

The air filters on your vents are used to keep pollutants from coming in from outside and cleaning the air that circulates in your home. Like all filters, they eventually fill up and need to be replaced. These should be changed out once a season. Unless you have really severe allergies, the standard air filters should be good enough to handle it. Just make sure you get it taken care of before the inversion stops so you don’t have to deal with it during the bad air days.

air duct cleaning before and afterLet Us Help

Cleaning your air ducts isn’t something you need to do often. Once every 2-3 years is usually enough, but because it’s not a regular task, it’s easy to forget it. How long has it been since you cleaned out yours? Most of our customers say they can’t even remember the last time they had it done. In some cases, based on what we find in the vents, some of our customers haven’t cleaned their vents since the 80s, if they ever have at all! If you can’t remember the last time you had your air ducts cleaned, it’s probably a sign that you need it done.

We’re here to help you with that. Get in touch with us today to schedule a cleaning. We’ll clean and sanitize your ducts for you, improving the air quality in your home and reducing the workload for your HVAC system. If you need your dryer vents cleaned out, we can do that while we’re there, too.

Make sure you can enjoy this winter season without worrying about the bad air. Breathe Easy with Easy Breezy!
