Who Can Clean Flex Ducts?

Recently, we got a call from a homeowner in Ogden looking to get some duct cleaning done. They’d called several businesses and none of them could do the job they needed. They were desperate to find someone and when we told them we could do it, they were thrilled. But why couldn’t anyone else clean their vents? It’s because their home used flex ducts.

What Are Flex Ducts?

Flex ducts are a type of ventilation that’s more flexible, hence the name. It’s lightweight, easy to install, fully insulated, and more efficient for your HVAC system. Naturally, it’s becoming a lot more popular for newer buildings to install flex ducts as a part of their ventilation rather than use older styles.

That said, flex ducting does tend to be more fragile than regular duct work and that can make it harder to clean. The brushes and machines used by other cleaning companies can easily crack, or cut through the layers of the duct work if they pick up construction debris or other items, potentially ruining it and needing repairs.

If they do, it creates a way for pests to get inside, or at the very least reduces the efficiency of your HVAC. Your HVAC contractor can easily fix these problems and an exterminator will remove any rats or other pests invading your ducts.

And don’t think that just because you’ve got old-fashioned stiff duct-work, you’re safe. We’ve found holes in older duct-work, too. The brushes of older duct cleaning systems can damage those as well. But our system won’t put your ducts at risk
