The other day, I was looking at rental carpet cleaning machines. Something I noticed was that these machines weren’t being properly cleaned out before putting them out on display again. That’s just spreading everyone’s carpet gunk around. Why would anyone want that? Imagine having someone else’s cat hair stinking up the room. Or someone’s puke. What a wonderful thought!
Then again, it does seem a lot cheaper. I started to wonder, is there a big difference between professional carpet cleaning and doing it yourself? Here’s what I’ve found after some research.
What’s The Difference?
The basic procedure for carpet cleaning is the same whether it’s DIY or professional. Even Bissell lays out the basic steps we’d recommend you follow and that we follow ourselves. So, is there a difference at all? Yes. The primary difference will be in temperature, time, chemicals, and the rinse drying.
The equipment professionals use will be capable of hotter temperatures and we use more potent chemicals. These will do a more thorough job of removing the ground in dirt. At Easy Breezy, we also always include the rinse, just to make sure we give you the best job possible. You can do this part, too, though. Of course, the biggest difference between DIY and professional carpet cleaning is that, if you call a professional in, they do it for you, letting you do other things.
So, which works best? It really comes down to what you need and want to do.
DIY Carpet Cleaning
The best times to do it yourself are at the oddball times that need immediate attention. Did you spill something on the carpet that will leave a stain? In that case, you probably won’t have time to call up a professional before the stain sets in, making the cleaning job much harder. Also, it might be a bit expensive to call up a carpet cleaner for a single stain, right?
In that case, it’s definitely good to do it yourself, though we recommend either owning your own carpet cleaning machine rather than renting. If you own your own, then you can take care of it yourself and never have to wonder if the rental machine is in good condition or not. There are plenty of companies that offer low-cost carpet cleaners that you can use the same as any vacuum cleaner.
Professional Carpet Cleaning
The main advantages of professional cleaning is how much deeper of a clean you get. As you walk on your carpet, you crush more dirt and dust into the fibers, often getting below the level that a simple cleaning can reach. The deep dirt condenses into hard crystals that damage your carpet fibers, making it look ratty and old. Since a general DIY job is unlikely to actually get that all that out, you’ll want to call in a professional at least once, preferably twice a year. This allows you to make sure your carpets stay in top condition for longer without having to spend too much money.
Let Easy Breezy Take Care of Your Carpet Cleaning Needs
It’s important to take care of your carpets properly. Clean carpets make the difference between feeling comfortable and feeling gross when you walk through the house. Carpets also act as a filter, capturing dust and dirt out of the air, which can reduce problems with allergies and breathing trouble. Keeping them clean makes sure they keep doing this for you.
While the DIY approach works, calling a professional for deep carpet cleaning can save you time, energy, and you won’t have to worry if the machine you’re using is clean, or up to the job. With Easy Breezy, you know you’re getting good service. While we take care of the hard work, you can relax, treat yourself to a good time, or just take care of other chores you have to work on.
If you haven’t had your carpets professionally cleaned in a while, then why not get in touch with us?
